Episode # 52// Wholehearted: Learning to Just Be with Jesus with Bethany Kimsey

This week’s guest is my friend Bethany Kimsey. She is a deep well of wisdom, and you are going to want to take notes during this episode. She shares with us about how God has changed her from the inside out over the last few decades of being a wife and mom to eight children. Yes, you read that right, eight children. Through it all, Bethany has learned that the best thing about her is not the roles she fulfills, but rather her identity as a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father. Get ready to be blessed by this episode, friend! Bethany’s friendship and ministry bless my heart immensely, and I know you will love her, too.

GUEST BIO

As a mother to 8 children, Bethany Kimsey has seen God radically change her messy motherhood from weary, anxious, and frantic to peaceful, joyful, and triumphant. She helps weary mothers win the battle against worry and fatigue as they understand their identity in Christ and rest in the hope of the Gospel in community with other moms. As a writer, speaker, and encourager of mothers, she wants to see a generation of mothers who can connect their motherhood to the love of Jesus in real and practical ways so that they can be confident.

She recently authored A Warrior Mama’s Prayers journal to help mothers pray intentionally over their children and anchor in gospel truths. This can be purchased at www.Bethanykimsey.co .

Learning the Art of Gospel Discipline Conversations — a 4-week private podcast course with an accompanying workbook helps a mother build a framework around discipline conversations.

She would love to connect over at her website, bethanykimsey.com, or on The Warrior Mama podcast , found on your favorite podcast platform. You can connect on Instagram or Facebook as well.

MEMORABLE QUOTES

Motherhood...it's not your identity. It's a role you play.

God created the family. It was the first unit he made because the pouring out of who God is in relationship from parent to child, that's his plan. That's the way your children catch their first picture of who God is. And it's inside of this dynamic that God first becomes real to your children.

I was functioning as a good Christian girl with a checklist. I believed that God had instituted a checklist with me and that he was expecting me to hit the marks of the checklist.

God began to say, "If I came for you, did I not also come for your children? And if I came for your children, do you trust me with your children?"

He has given us His word that is so full of promises.

If you prayed this way until you were 88 and you died and you didn't see it, would you still, are you willing to pray every day?

Are you willing to surrender and say, Lord, your timing, your way, these are the promises I'm going to hold to?

Every single woman who's ever sat with me believes these lies or has heard these lies and is trying to fight them. So do you know what that tells me? It tells me the author of lies knows these lies.
